Darksiders 3 is in the works believe it or not and it’s apparently launching relatively soon. According to a recently uncoveredAmazon listing, the game is set to launch on December 31st, 2018 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The release date is very likely a placeholder but the game itself seems to be totally legit. The listing contains some basic information regarding what to expect from Darksiders 3 along with a bunch of screenshots that look just like you’d expect from a game in this series.
While in Darksiders and Darksiders 2 players took on the roles of War and Death, respectively, it looks like Darksiders 3 will let us play as Fury. According to the description, Fury is a mage that uses a whip as her primary weapon in combination with various magic spells. This time around, the basic premise revolves around defeating the Seven Deadly Sins in an effort to restore the balance between good and evil. Similar to its predecessors, Darksiders 3 will be an open-ended game in which you can move back and forth between various areas while advancing the story. If the first two installments are any indication, we can also probably expect quite a bit of backtracking in the upcoming title.
Darksiders 3 is being developed by Gunfire Games and published by THQ Nordic, formerly known as Nordic Games. Gunfire Games is actually comprised of developers who worked on the first two Darksiders titles under the name Vigil Games back when the original THQ was still around. Luckily, many of the developers subsequently got together to form Gunfire Games and are now working with the recently rebranded THQ Nordic. In addition to Darksiders 3, THQ Nordic are also working to bring us a number of other interesting titles, including ELEX and Spellforce 3, both of wich are scheduled to launch later this year.
While this Darksiders 3 leak may come as a surprise to some, it was pretty obvious that THQ Nordic was working on continuing the series. The company did announce a while back that the series will continue at some point and have already paved the way for a sequel with Darksiders: Warmastered Edition and Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition. All things considered, it was just a matter of time before we were going to hear that Darksiders 3 is officially in development.
